Denver, CO — July 13, 2026 — AOA Dx announced the publication of a peer-reviewed study in Diagnostics (MDPI) titled “Multi-omic profiling in a symptomatic cohort identifies coordinated biomarker signatures in ovarian cancer serum.” The study represents the only comprehensive integrated multi-omic analyses of ovarian cancer serum conducted in a clinically relevant symptomatic population to date and provides the biological foundation underlying AOA Dx’s AKRIVIS GD™ diagnostic test and its GlycoLocate™ discovery platform.
Study Overview
The study enrolled 503 participants across six clinical groups, early- and late-stage ovarian cancer, borderline tumors, benign gynecological conditions, gastrointestinal disorders, and healthy controls. This cohort was designed to reflect the real-world clinical presentation of women experiencing vague abdominal symptoms – the precise population where diagnostic tools must perform for the early detection of OC. Lipidomic, metabolomic, and protein profiling were performed within the same cohort using LC-MS and immunoassay.
Key Findings
- Cancer exhibits distinct molecular signatures across lipids, metabolites, and proteins. While each molecular layer exhibited distinct profiles in ovarian cancer compared with benign serum, integrating all three revealed biological connections linking membrane remodeling, redox balance, energy metabolism, and immune signaling.
- No single biomarker class is enough for early detection. Standard-of-care markers CA125 and HE4 and other proteins showed significant overlap between early-stage ovarian cancer and benign conditions in symptomatic women, confirming that single-omics cannot solve early detection. The multi-omic framework revealed biological connections between molecular classes that remain invisible to individual tests.
- The biology points toward earlier detection. Borderline tumors and benign conditions showed molecular profiles that fall between healthy and malignant specimens, suggesting the platform can detect a biological continuum of disease, not just a binary cancer/no-cancer signal. This has meaningful implications for risk stratification and earlier intervention.
